Issue No. 1178 of Charlie Hebdo was published on January 14, 2015, with a circulation of 3 million copies. This was the first issue after the Charlie Hebdo shooting, in which 11 staff members of the magazine were killed. The new team was formed by bringing together cartoonists, journalists, and former contributors of Charlie Hebdo in a room at the offices of the newspaper Libération. The publication of this issue led to protests by Muslims in Yemen, Pakistan, Mauritania, Algeria, Mali, Niger, Chechnya, Iran, and other countries. In Niger, violent demonstrations resulted in the deaths of 10 people.
